Roger Botembe, was born in Kinshasa 1959. He was educated at insitutions that include The Beaux-Arts Academy in Kinshasa and Brussels, as well the National Art Institute, Abidjan. He works from his studio in Kinshasa and also spends his time teaching.

Botembe has received a number of awards, including the prize for excellence in art, awarded to him by the City of Brussels. His artistic output comprise oil painting in an abstract style reminiscent of African masks.
